Objects for the general public

This work was a part of Project U‘s Art in the Windows in Downtown Utica.  Art in the Windows, aims to revitalize the vacant and under-used storefronts in this once thriving area.  The work that I installed is called, The Balance Between Work and Home, Objects 1-7.  The work utilizes found home building materials in constructing a symbolic gesture between balancing the weight and responsibilities of a home and resources needed to maintain the sustenance of survival.  These objects are the beginning of a new body of work that stems from my time in Europe this spring.  During my residencies in Berlin and Scotland, I began using found materials to create sculptures that metaphorically reference the idea of balance and weight.  The Balance Between Work and Home, Objects 1-7, will be on display in Utica, NY, till August 1, 2013.
